Kinesiotherapy is rehabilitative, therapeutic services provided by a registered Clinical Kinesiologist. The ultimate goal is to have a patient reach their full potential health, fitness level and well-being.
Although therapies and protocols vary between Kinesiologists, my main focus is on Sports Medicine and chronic injury. This rehabilitation service is comprehensive in nature, supporting those suffering from cardiovascular disease and/or musculoskeletal injury.
Successful clinical Kinesiology graduates have mastered Anatomy, Bio-Mechanics and Exercise Physiology. I conduct successful Kinesiotherapy treatments by taking a holistic approach to recovery. There are times when intermittent muscle specific treatments are required, but the main goal of the therapy is to get you off the table and onto the floor conducting more functional exercises.
Where does Kinesiotherapy fit into your health profile? Acute, complex injury where critical care is required to bring you to a stabilized health profile at the very early stages of your incident is best completed through Chiropractic medicine and Physiotherapy. Kinesiotherapy is excellent when jointly prescribed with Chiropractic treatments.
Deciphering between Physiotherapy and Kinesiotherapy can sometimes be difficult.
If you have been involved in a motor vehicle accident, fall from a roof, had replacement surgery, Physiotherapy will be the best solution for the first 4-6 weeks in most cases.
Kinesiotherapy is excellent in assisting you through your post-Physiotherapy rehabilitation process. When the initial injury begins to heal and pain is being managed, you should conclude it is time for Kinesiotherapy. Kinesiotherapy takes your rehabilitation to the next level in completion. Everything from cardiovascular health conditioning prescription to appropriately prescribed muscle health exercises. Kinesiotherapy identifies larger underlying postural and mechanical defaults you may have that are contributing to the delayed recovery you are experiencing or correction in mechanical movements you may have improperly taken on to avoid pain and discomfort from the original injury (compensatory pain).
